THE Lautoka football former reps presented their i-reguregu to the family of the late Pita Dau in Banaras, Lautoka yesterday.

The delegation was led by Lautoka former football representative, Abbas Ali, also known as “Schoolboy” from New Zealand.

Dau, a former Lautoka rep and dual international, passed away last week.

He also captained the national football side in 1988.

Ali described Dau as a gentle giant. He said Dau was a true sportsman who led by example.

“Pita was a proud family member of the sporting community in Lautoka,” Ali said.

“Sports was in his heart. Anywhere there was a game he was always there with his family.

“When I was playing, Pita was very young. It is a big loss for the sport.”

Fiji Football Association presented its i-reguregu on Thursday.

The Fiji FA delegation included Fiji FA Ba academy manager Ravinesh Kumar, Ba team manager Arvin Singh, former Lautoka coach Lambert Sarju, Fiji under-16 coach Yogendra Dutt and Fiji FA academy gymnasium staff Mikea Rokodrakia.

Dau’s body will rest at his house at 10 Tavaiqia St in Banaras from 7am-9am for viewing today.

The funeral service will be held at the Natokowaqa Methodist Church at 10am followed by burial at the Balawa Cemetery at 12pm.
