Former politician and lawyer passes away

Fiji’s former Attorney-General, Apaitia Seru has passed away at the age of 84.

The late Mr Seru who is originally from Lawaki, Nakasaleka, Kadavu served briefly as Attorney General of Fiji in 1992.

He was also a member of the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and held the Kadavu Fijian Communal Constituency for the Soqosoqo ni Vakavulewa ni Taukei party at the time.

Prior to serving as Attorney General, Mr Seru had been a magistrate, and for a time, Chief Magistrate.

Mr Seru, a lawyer by profession is survived by his wife, Lolohea – four children, Simon, Peni, David and Meliki, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Daughter, Meliki Weleilakeba says because of the current situation with COVID-19 only 10 close members of the family are allowed at his graveside funeral which will be held this Thursday, April 22, 2021.

However Mrs Weleilakeba says there will be live stream coverage of the funeral.
