Former netball player Alini Rabitu Sovu has passed away.

FORMER netball player Alini Rabitu Sovu has passed away.

THE former South Pacific Games 2013 chef de mission was called to rest after a short illness.

The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) chief executive officer Lorraine Mar said Rabitu has been an inspiration in the sporting arena.

“FASANOC is deeply saddened by the passing of Sports Administrator, Alini Sovu who we acknowledge for a life time of service to Netball, to FASANOC and to sports in general,” she said.

“We are aware that Alini was a player on a Fiji Netball Team which toured New Zealand in 1983.

“She served Fiji Netball with distinction as the Secretary for many years.

“Alini Sovu will be remembered for her dedication, commitment and loyalty to not only Netball but to the sporting family of FASANOC.”
