FORMER Flying Fijian Vereniki Sauturaga believes that if the current national side is to achieve a collective goal, the players need to first evaluate themselves individually.

Sauturaga was one of the hookers of the Fiji team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.

He said each player needed to evaluate himself if they wanted to work towards achieving the same goal.

“If you mention evaluating each person individually to any player, it’s a broad concept, however they would know exactly what you’re talking about,” he said.

Sauturaga was named the Fijian Banana Planter of the Year yesterday by Government.

“An individual person’s expectation needs to be set on things that will be expected from him, on and off-the field.

“That’s what he needs to do and what’s required of him.”

He wished the Flying Fijians squad the best in the coming series against the New Zealand Maori All Blacks in Fiji and New Zealand, the Pacific Nations Cup and the fight for the Webb Ellis Cup in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
