FIJI’S Ministry of Forests has confirmed that it went ahead with cutting down the mahogany trees beside Adi Cakobau School in Sawani after receiving a report from the school that those trees posed a danger for teachers and children.

However, the logging activity has not gone down well for many in the ACS network, stating the lives of the students of the school are at risk as the trees that held the soil together had been logged with the probability of a landslide now high.

Logging has also been made to make way for the possible expansion of the school.

Read the detailed report in tomorrow’s (Wednesday, January 23) edition of The Fiji Times.
