THE foreign national who allegedly murdered his wife Jennifer Ann Downes in July this year has been further remanded by the High Court in Suva today.

Kiala Marcellino Penakoy Henri Lusaka, 39,  appeared before Judge justice Daniel Goundar charged with one count of murder.

The alleged incident occurred in July  at their home at Service St in Suva where the suspect allegedly murdered 44-year-old Jennifer Downes.

In court today, Mr Lusaka made a bail application so that he could be granted bail and then look for a private lawyer to represent him in the case.

He said while being kept in the Suva Remand Centere, he had no access to phones in order to contact and arrange a lawyer for himself.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Elizabeth Rice sought 21 days’ time to file information and disclosures and advised the court that they would be opposing to any bail application made.

The matter now will be called on September 13, for plea.
