NADI Football Association (Nadi FA) has kick-started its 2018 KK’s Hardware Nadi local league with a vision.
President Javed Ahmed confirmed that for the first time in the history of Nadi FA, club competitions would be played over 90 minutes.
He emphasised that teams must be well prepared to last the full match.
“We achieve a milestone this year as for the first time in the history of Nadi Football, we will have 90 minutes of football.
“I think this has taken a long time to achieve, but it is in the interest of everybody and also in line with Fiji football’s vision,” Ahmed said.
In response to his statement, Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said. “Yes this was announced in the congress last year and we urged districts whereever possible to play 90 minutes.”
Ahmed was delighted with the sponsorship and thanked KK’s Hardware managing director Kamlesh Karan and director Kavit Karan for their continued support towards helping the association develop and promote club football.
He said this year’s competition would be the toughest seen in years and hoped Nadi would retain the club national title this year.
“Our vision this year is to make Nadi football the most competitive and the best league in Fiji and I think we have already started showing this last year when Blues won the National Club Championship.
“I challenge the team to make sure that the cup stays again in Nadi this year.”
