A family gathering in Narere in Nasinu where members of a few different households converged is now potentially the source point of three cases, says Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong.

He said a 27-year-old announced as a COVID-positive case yesterday was also part of the gathering.

During the family gathering on April 17, she had close contact with another case from Makoi.

“It was only a small family gathering with members from a few different households, but that was more than enough to have national ramifications,” he said.

Dr Fong said the woman entered quarantine on April 28 as a contact of one of the cases from Makoi and tested positive yesterday.

He said members of the patient’s household had also been in quarantine from April 29 and all had tested negative for COVID-19.
