MORE than 300 graduates of the Fiji National University were yesterday encouraged to take up the Young Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) to ensure they are able to carry on the job-creating initiative that is intended to develop our economy.
Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate yesterday challenged the graduates to think outside the box, be creative and become job creators.
“I would like to encourage you to look up the Young Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES). This is geared towards Fijians aged 18 and 30 who have completed vocational or technical diploma or degree with innovative ideas and initiatives that lead to job creation,” he said.
“The unemployment rate has dropped 4.5 percent which is the lowest in 20 years.”
He also said that the young workers approach to the workplace is from a new perspective-creativity, versatility and technological literacy or techno-savvy.
