FNU appoints two pro-vice chancellors

THE Fiji National University has appointed two new pro-vice chancellors in different faculties in the last two months.

Professor James Pounder who is originally from England has been appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor Learning and Teaching, while Professor Mohini Singh has been appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor Research.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey said Professor Pounder had an extensive international experience in Asia and Middle-East countries which best met the selection criteria.

He said Professor Pounder’s duties included liaising with the Hong Kong University Grants Committee on all matter relating to teaching and learning quality.

Professor Pounder said his objective would be to help the national university become a university of choice, especially in the teaching and learning area.

Professor Healey said Ms Singh who had been an academic with Australian universities for the last 30 years was well known for her work in the fields of Information Technology and Innovation Management, e-Business and e-Government, e-Services, Digital Entrepreneurship and Social Media.

He said other outcomes of Ms Singh’s research included delivery of keynote addresses at international forums and presentation of her research to the Parliament of Victoria for policy development on telecommunications infrastructure for rural Victoria.
