THE Fiji National Rugby League women’s head coach is expecting discipline from the players if they want to make it to the national squad for the 2019 Pacific Games squad in Samoa.

Coach Peni Tubakibau said they would be hosting three trials and they were focused on discipline and how well athletes knew the sport.

“This is our first trial and the next one will be in February next year where we will cut the number to a 25-member squad.  Another one in early April where we will finalise the 15-member squad,” Tubakibau said.

“These trials, we just wanted to see how well they know the game and its rules.

“For the past month, we didn’t have any local competition for the girls to test their skills and give them any game time.

“We have identified some players who are eligible to be part of the squad, but I wanted to watch the other players see how good they are.”

Their first trial was held at the University of the South Pacific ground.

Tubakibau is assisted by Lynda Shannon and the team manageress is Jackie Shannon.
