TWENTY men’s and five women’s team will compete in the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) Vodafone Nines Tournament at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi today.

FNRL chairman Peni Musunamasi revealed the tournament is part of the sporting organisation’s bid to have a Nines Series next year.

The bid if successful will be used as a build up the Pacific Games in Samoa in July.

The Nines Series, if all falls through, will start in January and held in various locations in Fiji including a maritime island.

Mr Musunamasi said today’s event and the series bid are part of FNRL’s activities to promote the game of nines.

And in future, Fiji could host international clubs as well as a world tournament.
