FIJI National Rugby League (FNRL) is focusing on the development of the sport at the grassroots level as it prepares to host the FNRL Primary Schools Gala Day tomorrow at Albert Park in Suva.

The event will feature more than eight schools from the Central Division including one from Ra Province.

FNRL support development officer Jone Wesele said they were committed to the development of players.

“This is just one of the ways the FNRL is trying to promote the development of young players regardless of what they are going to take in the future,” said Wesele. The gala day includes a competition for girls.

“This is something we are trying to nurture in order to get that much needed skill for every player when the opportunity comes when we may form a women’s team,” said Wesele.

The event will be from 9am to 4pm tomorrow.
