Flyers run touch clinic

THE Raiwaqa Flyers Touch Rugby Club will be having its five-week “Touch Rugby Clinic” in Raiwaqa to start on July 29.

Club manager Titoko Lorima said they had been focused on children between the ages of four and 15 years.

“We want to get people to come down and learn about the game of touch rugby and also promote healthy living,” Lorima said.

He said Fiji had the potential to field top teams to represent the country in international tournaments.

“Touch rugby is growing and is becoming popular among youths and business houses.”

Head coach Ratu Samu Kabakoro said they wanted to develop the sport from grassroots level.

“It would be good for children to learn the sport because it is similar to rugby and rugby league. We want to encourage all Fijians to come down and join us.”

He said their workshop would teach skills and the various other aspects of the game.

“It’s an easy sport to learn and we urge everybody to come and learn the sport.”

He urged the public to join, not only to learn about the game, but to promote healthy living and combating non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
