Olympian Samisoni Viriviri is fit and raring to go as the Police Blue 7s team prepares to defend their title at this weekend’s Marist 7s in Suva.

“I am ready and looking forward to the tournament this weekend,” Viriviri said.

“I know it will be a great contest and should be fun with all Fiji’s top 7s teams playing.”

The Dratabu flyer was in top form during the team’s training run at the Fiji Police Academy ground in Nasova yesterday with his Fiji 7s teammates Waisea Nacuqu, Terio Tamani and Apenisa Cakaubalavu.

“We have a strong team going to this tournament, but reputation isn’t everything because there are many good teams out there.”

Also in the team is former Fiji 7s livewire Kitione Taliga, who recently completed the Fiji Police Basic Recruits Course alongside Viriviri a week ago.

“We are preparing as best as we can, and we will do our part for the team as we want to defend our title.”

Viriviri, who also played 15s rugby for Nadi in the Skipper Cup this season will be hoping to play well and impress national 7s coach Gareth Baber for another chance to make the team.
