IT’S interesting how people respond to fire alarms.
One such alarm got the better of Beachcomber yesterday.
He had finished a plate of lovely vegetable curry with roti alongside two colleagues yesterday afternoon in the tearoom, filled up his mug of tea and had just pulled up his seat when the fire alarm went off.
They had gone through fire drills before so instinctive responses kicked in.
Colleague number one ate what he had in his hand, covered the rest of his meal in a hurry and raced out with colleague number 2 who had hurriedly wiped his plate clean by the way, munching whatever was left in his mouth on his way out the door.
As they prepared to cross the main road to get to the evacuation point, colleague number 1 asked Beachcomber what he was still doing with his mug of tea on the main road.
