“EVEN the floods did not stop us,” said Ra primary schools athletics team coach Babitu Ledua.

His side took first honours on day one of the 2018 FMF Chow Games yesterday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva by winning the 1500 metres under-12 boys and girls finals, U13 boys and girls finals and U14 boys final.

“Our preparation was interrupted by flooding before coming here, but it is the determination by our students that helped them achieve their goal,” Ledua said.

Ra missed out on a cleansweep but settled for silver in the U14 girls final.

Ledua said it was a great experience for their athletes to take part in the national tournament.

“The students did not have a training camp. They were given a training program to follow. “We want to expose our athletes from the West and to showcase the talents.

“The message to the students is to enjoy themselves and do their best.”
