THE adverse weather did not spare certain places in the Central Division as it was also affected by flash flooding.

Qauia bridge in Lami was under water for more than six hours as residents watched strong currents sweep away debris in the muddy river.

Qauia resident Mikaele Qeretabua said they noticed water level rising around 11am, and soon water had reached the doorstep of the first house located just beside the river. At Wailoku in Tamavua, residents watched helplessly from inside their homes as flooded drains swept debris and rubbish on to the roads and into their compounds.

Luckily for those living along Wailoku Rd in Tamavua, water receded within a few hours of the roads being flooded.
