Five swimmers for Australia

FIVE swimmers will represent Fiji in the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia in April.

The swimmers are Matelita Buadromo, Taichi Vakasama, Epeli Rabua, Cheyenne Rova and Paul Elaisa.

Fiji Swimming coach Sharon Smith said their preparation was on track.

“There will be a team from Fiji going to the Commonwealth Games including five swimmers and two official,” she said.

“The preparation has been going very well.

“Cheyenne and Paul are in America at the moment where they are training for the Commonwealth Games and they will join the team in Australia. Unfortunately, they could not come and train with us before leaving, but we will meet them in Gold Coast.”

Smith said she was happy with the progress of all the swimmers.

“They are having swimming sessions and they also do gym work with Cheyenne also doing some part-time coaching in America.

“They are very active and they have been sending their programs and activities of what they have been doing there.

“We have stepped up another level and we are hoping to make it to the semi-finals.”

The Commonwealth Games will be held from April 4-15.
