Five Fijians from the Japanese Language School have successfully completed the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) conducted through the Japan Foundation.
According to Freebird Institute, the five will be travelling to Japan to take a technical examination on August 25, prepared by the Japan Aeronautical Engineers Association.
If successful, they will be provided employment by its partners in Japan.
The Fijian students were enrolled in Freebird’s Japanese Language school in 2019 to take advantage of the Japanese government’s introduction of a ‘Specified Skilled Worker’ visa aimed at addressing the serious labour shortage in Japan by accepting experienced foreign human resources with specific expertise and skills.
Freebird Institute CEO Hiroshi Taniguchi said: “The pandemic had caused the Japanese language classes to extend beyond the one year we had initially planned but we are grateful that we can finally send some Fijians to Japan.”
