THE Vodafone Back to Levuka Carnival intends to bring people together to support a charitable cause for the township, says Vodafone head of recharge sales and distribution Nilesh Singh.

Five contestant are vying for this year’s crown and Mr Singh said Vodafone was proud to have revived the festival last year after a lapse of 15 years.

“I encourage the five contestants taking part in the carnival this year to utilise this platform to the fullest in learning, advocating and becoming better ambassadors of our country” Mr Singh said during the opening of the carnival on Tuesday night held at Nasau Park.

He said the carnival provided an opportune platform for these contestants to gain confidence and become ambassadors for their communities.

“Vying for the crown, these contestants will utilise this stage to raise awareness and advocate on the theme ‘Our Island, Our Environment, Our Livelihood for our Future’,” he said.

Voadafone has partnered with the Levuka Town Council for this year’s carnival and Mr Singh added that carnivals were a great way to bring families and communities together.
