A LOKIA fisherman is having sleepless nights, worried about how he will feed his family during the 14-day COVID-19 containment.

Ravinesh Chand said the restriction of movement had affected his ability to earn and feed his family.

“At the end of every day, I thank God I have managed today but what will I do tomorrow?” the 43-year-old said.

“If there is no one working, there will be a lot of tension in the house about what to eat, how to manage and where to get an income from.”

Mr Chand said fishermen needed to catch fish to earn.

“I don’t have savings or other funds to depend on.

“During normal times, whatever I earned was used for groceries, buying ice to store my catch and paying bills and other expenses.

“Our empty fridge really worries me.”

He said children staying at home worried him even more.

“When children stay at home, there are other expenses as they need things to keep themselves busy.

“I don’t know how long this will go on for but it’s very difficult for us.”
