Fisheries PS Naqali passes away

PERMANENT secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries Sanaila Naqali has passed away.
Public Service Commission chairperson Vishnu Mohan confirmed this in a statement issued this afternoon while expressing his condoleneces.
Mr Naqali had had a long career in serving the Fijian public, rising through the ranks of both civil service and the Fiji Navy.
“It is with great remorse that the Public Service Commission learned of his passing this morning,” Mr Mohan said in the statement.
“My sincere condolences go out to Mr Naqali’s family, and also to his colleagues at the Ministry of Fisheries, during this difficult time. We thank him for his service to Fiji,” he said.
Before being appointed to his role as permanent secretary in September last year, Mr Naqali served as deputy secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries and Forests.
He was also previously a senior manager in the Fijian Civil Service and formerly served as a senior officer in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ Naval Division.
