First payment made for Lakena bus accident

THE first payment for the death of one of the passengers of the Lakena bus accident has been made by the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF).

ACCF CEO Parvez Akbar in a statement issued today said the motor vehicle accident application was received from the mother of the deceased.

“Upon receiving the application and all relevant information, ACCF processed it in a timely manner and assessed their compensation in accordance with the Accident Compensation Act 2017 and Regulations. child on October 24, 2019 as she was under eighteen years of age,” Mr Akbar said.

Upon receiving her compensation of $75,000, the victim’s mother – Mrs Tutu said “Thank you to the ACCF team for being there from the beginning of the accident until today. Thank you so much to all the staff of the ACCF for helping me through my application. I did not know anything about ACCF, and you introduced me to it through your awareness and you helped me right through the process. I thank you so much for all you have done for us.”
