IT WAS a historic event for staff members of Fiji Forest Industries last month when they celebrated achieving $1.42million in sales earnings.
They also marked their golden jubilee for 50 years of operation.
Macuata chief Ratu Wiliame Katonivere said the company had come a long way.
“Fiji Forest Industries stand alone and unchallenged as a pioneer of the timber industry in Fiji,” he said.
“FFI is the hub of timber harvesting and processing in Vanua Levu and over the years it has utilised the best indigenous species.
“In fact it is the leading indigenous and pine forest processor in Fiji and the South Pacific.”
General manager Joni Duikoro dedicated the success of the company to their work force of about 350.
“Today (Saturday) marks the 50th year of the company’s existence,” he said.
“We are here to stay and we are focusing on improving our productivity in the years.
“The demands for our products have increased over the years both locally and internationally.”
Mr Duikoro said that while they were trying to grow as a company they also had strategies to meet their targets.
“We are currently looking at new idea and innovations to better the service of FFI,” he said.
