CREDIT Corporation (Fiji) Ltd and its staff members believe that becoming an advocate helps in making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.

This was the message relayed by the company’s general manager lending, Jason Chandra, while speaking at a morning tea organised by the company at their head office in Suva yesterday.

The event was organised to raise awareness and advocacy for cancer. “All funds raised will go to the Fiji Cancer Society (FCS).

We have extended invitations to our valued clients, business partners and friends to be part of our effort,” Mr Chandra said.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we saw it fitting to assist the FCS in its cancer advocacy and awareness program.”

He said it was vital that people affected by cancer had access to proper care that included social and emotional support.

“As a corporate citizen, we recognise the invaluable work that the Fiji Cancer Society does in this area. This event is being put together for a charity cause and is a wonderful experience,” he said.

Mr Chandra said over the past two years, the company had hosted similar cancer awareness morning tea events.

“We heard some inspiring stories from some cancer survivors and that has created a better understanding among our staff of the invaluable work the FCS does in the community,” he said.

He added they were certain whatever funds they raised this year would be directed towards more awareness campaigns by the FCS in various organisations and communities they provided support to.
