Packleader Pacific launched a COVID-19 fundraising initiative to assist families of current and former staff members whose livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic.

The company is a telemarketing firm. Human resources manager Neha Kumar said they were fortunate to still be working.

“The nature of our business allows us to work, some parts of the world got impacted and this sort of created an opportunity for us to continue working,” she said.

“So we didn’t have reduced hours or had to let go of people but then we recruited more and expanded our hours of work,” she said.

“But hearing about what happened to Jack’s staff and then the Fiji Airways staff made us think and reflect of how fortunate we are that we are still working.

“So we just wanted to be able to give back, not all our staff earn big dollars.”

Ms Kumar said they were assisting former workers who had been affected.

“We have identified a few families who were members of this institution before they moved on and joined other organisations like Fiji Airways.”

She said all contributions would be distributed among those families.
