ALL documents and official records are safe, says iTaukei Affairs Ministry permanent secretary Meleti Bainimarama after an early morning fire gutted the GCC complex of the iTaukei Trust Fund Board at Nasese in Suva yesterday.

Mr Bainimarama said the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs and the iTaukei Affairs Board headquarters were not affected and all operations continued as normal.

“All other matters pertaining to the incident will be released by the property owners, the iTaukei Trust Fund Board.”

The National Fire Authority (NFA) stated that it was conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

NFA stated that 20 firefighters and three fire officers were present at the scene.

“The fire team quickly used two deliveries of water from the 20,000 litres fire tanker truck and applied aggressive firefighting, preventing fire spreading to the attached offices,” the statement stated.
