THE Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team members stopped over at Rukurukulevu Village in Sigatoka to give their final respect to a humble servant of Fiji and Nadroga rugby teams, trainer Nimilote Dau, who passed away last week after a short illness.

The national 7s team and the Fiji Rugby Union management presented their reguregu to Dau’s family in Nadroga before they left for Nadi and later flying out to the United Kingdom today.

Dau, in his mid-40s, is survived by his wife and son John Vuki, who was a former national U20 rep and Nadroga U20 and development squad member –– now playing rugby league in Australia.

Dau dedicated 19 years of his life grooming and developing rugby players to be successful people with their rugby careers. He has earned the respect of former and current Fiji rugby players in 7s and fifteens code who have moved on to greener pastures.

Meanwhile Fiji 7s captain Paula Dranisinukula and his gladiators camped at Nadi yesterday and will depart for London today with one goal and that is to return with the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series title.

Dranisinukula said their every decision on and off the field of play counts and that would be an impact to their performance.

“When it comes to the last two tournaments it all reflects back on how hard you’ve trained and sacrificed and given your best on and off the field. Everything that you did back during training will show its outcome,” said Dranisinukula.

“However we want to return with the series trophy and we believe we can do that because I believe in the boys and their capabilities and all we have to do is to execute it on the field because we are doing this for everyone back at home.”

The players will be wearing black armbands during the London 7s as a tribute to Dau who played a huge role in rugby development in Fiji.
