Fiji’s first tech summit

For the first time, a tech summit which will see up to 20 global tech giants participating at the InterContinental Golf Resort & Spa in Natadola next month.

Known as the Fiji Tech Summit the official event was launched in Suva on Thursday.

The event was organised by Datec (Fiji) Pte Ltd.

The summit is dubbed as one of the largest IT events in the Pacific region which will give the opportunity to participants to get hands-on with the latest technologies with up to 20 global tech giants.

Datec (Fiji) Pte Ltd chief executive officer Satyen Singh said the summit would be the largest technology event in Fiji.

“This is the most exciting event of the year,” he said.

Mr Singh said the technology vendors that would be part of the two-day event were the global change makers.

“We know that technology continues to be the primary catalyst for change in the world and these are the technology players who are making innovation happen.”

Mr Singh said the contingents would include more than 70 international members traveling from multiple countries across the world.

“In total, the event will host over 200 delegates and at the same time create business opportunities for the hospitality industry.

“The event will see over 70+ offshore vendors and delegates travelling to this event, showcasing Fiji to various global vendors that may help convince global tech giants to host their other future events in Fiji.

“It would also provide talent development for the professionals to learn from the global experts and understand the shifting trend in technology while shaping our ICT industry and access to major global tech’s under one roof.”

Mr Singh said the reason why this was happening was because they wanted a convergence of the world’s largest innovators with Fiji’s and the region’s best.

“We want the convergence where technology innovators, business leaders and companies in Fiji and region come together in a single platform to share ideas, work on ways to improve productivity and contribute towards digital acceleration.”
