The Court of Appeal in Fiji will hear the appeal matter on the Russian superyacht Amadea next week.

The interim stay of execution granted to Millemarin Investments Ltd of the order in the High Court registering the US warrant to seize the Amadea was called for mention in the Court of Appeal today.

The Court of Appeal has declined to conduct a hearing on the stay and instead ordered the stay to continue until next Wednesday, May 18, when a full bench of the Court of Appeal would hear the substantive appeal filed by Millemarin Investments Ltd against the decision of the High Court registering the US warrant.

According to a statement from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), on May 6, the High Court in Suva had refused an application by Millemarin Investments Ltd for an interim stay of execution of the court’s order granted earlier on May 3 to the DPP.

It stated that on the same day, the Court of Appeal granted Millemarin Investments Ltd an ex parte application staying the High Court’s orders.
