THE Fiji junior squash players have completed their final matches at the Australian Junior Squash Championship.
Saneel Chhanganlal put up a good fight against Clay Canty of Australia in his second match, but went down 3-1.
Eka Tabakaucoro also lost her plate semi-final match against Laura Stieler of Australia 3-0.
The impressive player was 12-year-old Ratu Jone Tufawai who won the plate final beating Australia’s Beau Pratt 3-1.
Ratu Jone had lost 3-0 to Beau in his first match last week at the Oceania Championship.
Team manager Dinesh Narayan was satisfied with the players’ performances and hope that all players learn from the experience.
“We will put in a specific training program for each if these juniors to continue their development and arrange further international tours to give them exposure to top level competition,” he said.
“We hope to send a few juniors to compete at the Auckland Junior championship in May. Our junior coaching program should also start in Suva in February and we will be liaising with our affiliated clubs in Lautoka, Nadi, Savusavu to begin similar programs in their regions,”
