THE Fiji Airways national women’s team will have a week off before they start preparing for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco next month.

“We will recuperate and then we get back into training,” coach Iliesa Tanivula said.

“We will be working on our weaknesses and improving on them.”

The Fijiana team finished sixth at the HSBC Paris 7s and ninth overall in the HSBC World Sevens Series.

The team led Australia through out their quarterfinal match but a last gasp effort and try from the world champions gave them a 19-17 victory over Fiji.

Fiji went on to defeat England in the fifth place semi final but lost to USA in the final thus finishing sixth in the tournament.

“We need to work on fitness,” Tanivula said on the areas that need improvement.

“We need to better our skills, see what our mistakes were and improve on them.”

The former national rep said one of the challenges he faced as coach was organising his team’s training and selecting the best.

“Hopefully, a lot of girls with interest will join because their is so much talent in Fiji,” he added.

Like all teams competing in the RWC 7s the ultimate aim is to be in the finals.

To do that, Tanivula said the team needs to do better then what they did in Paris.
