Fijiana into quarters

FIJI Airways Fijiana 7s team will play New Zealand in the second semi-final of the 2017 Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship at the ANZ Stadium in Suva today.
The Iliesa Tanivula-coached side registered two wins in the tournament, where they beat Samoa 38-0 and walloped Tonga 52-5.
The side lost to Australia 28-5 in the last pool match.
“Our Fijiana girls played against some bigger girls in the competition and I think they did well and Australia was a tough side,” Tanivula said.
Tanivula said their focus was on building the team for the HSBC World Sevens Series with would start in Dubai.
“We have a few tournaments to build our team for the series and there are a lot of elements which come in, such as fitness,” he said.
“How much the girls adhere to the instruction and follow the game plan and if could get that right then we could get a good team.”
The Fijiana play New Zealand at 1.20pm, while defending champion Australia will play Papua New Guinea at 1pm.
