Fijiana includes two new players for Dubai 7s

THE Fiji Airways Fijiana rugby 7s team has included two new players into their 12 member side that will be competing at the Dubai 7s tournament next weekend.

Joma Robuti makes her return to the sevens scene while former high school 400 metres sprinter Paulini Korowaqa takes up the opportunity to feature in her first World Sevens Series.

Team manager Peceli Derenalagi said the team is aware of the competition level in the World Series and the Oceania was a good platform for the coaches to toughen up her newly selected players before the Dubai 7s tournament.

“The line up from the Oceania 7s Championship remains with only two new inclusions in the team and the girls have been training hard trying to make a different approach in their second tournament in the HSBC World Series,” Derenalagi said.

Fijiana top try scorer Asinate Savu and Luisa Tisolo has been dropped from the squad to feature in the Fijiana XV rugby.

“We’ve only replaced two players from the team that played in the Oceania 7s Championship, but the rest will continue to represent Fiji in the Series.

Fiji plays Canada in their first pool game on Thursday at 9.22pm and France at 11.56pm before they take on Spain on Friday at 2.53pm.

The Fijiana team: Litia Naiqato, Vasiti Solikoviti, Paulini Rokowaqa, Ema Adi Vataloga, Naina Baleca, Sereana Nagatalevu, Mereula Toroti, Merewalesi Rokovono, Litiana Lawedrau, Joma Robuti, Ana Maria Naimasi, Roela Radiniyavuni.
