THE Fiji Airways Fijiana XVs team thumped Papua New Guinea 96-0 in the Oceania Women’s Rugby 15s Championship at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday.

The Fijians were unstoppable and proved too strong for the visitors to record their second win of the competition.

The side also demonlished Tonga 56-0 in its opening game and will face the unbeaten Samoans in the decider on Saturday.

Laced with majority of the Fijiana 7s players such as Ana Maria Roqica, Rusila Nagasau, Luisa Tisolo and Tima Ravisa, the side outsmarted the visitors in all facets of the game.

The rock solid defensive pattern also prevented Papua New Guinea from crossing Fiji’s tryline.

Fijian skipper Nagasau said the side played according to the game plan set out by their coach, Inoke Male.

She also praised the performance of their forwards for dominating the set pieces and it laid the platform for the backline to weave their magic. She said the win would be a good platform for the much anticipated clash against Samoa on Saturday.

“We did what we were told to do and the forwards really performed well,” said Nagasau.

“We need to lift our game against Samoa in the last game and rectify the weaknesses we committed in the past two games.”

Meanwhile, Samoa thumped Tonga 68-7 in another encounter. Fiji and Samoa will face-off to determine the winner of this year’s competition.
