‘Fijiana can be world beaters’

FIJI-BORN Australia 7s player Elia Green believes Fijiana can beat any team on the day as her country women gave Australia a scare in the final pool B match of the women’s competition at Robina Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday.

Green, 25, was born in Suva, Fiji, but she was adopted by Yolanta and Evan Green.

Green, who was also a track sprinter won a gold medal in the 2016 Olympic Games which was held in Rio, Brazil.

“It was a good feeling playing with my sisters in the Commonwealth Games,” she said.

“It is always tough playing them.

“Fijian players are always very physical to play against and they have got natural ability and it has always been a battle against them with their athlete ability.”

Green was given a tough time by the Fijian girls on the field as both the teams had a lot to play as they wanted to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.

Green said she had been enjoying her journey with the Australian team.
