Fijiana 7s girls win Kitakyushu 7s Challenge Trophy final

THE Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team won the Challenge Trophy final at the Kitakyushu 7s in Japan after beating Spain 41-12 yesterday.

Fiji scored seven tries where Asinate Savu scored a hat trick, two from Raijieli Daveua, and Ana Maria Naimasi and Paulini Korowaqa scored a try each.

The Fijiana 7s team remains at 10th place in the Women’s World 7s Series standings with 13 points.

Fiji lost their first pool match against Ireland 31-10.

They lost to the USA 7s team 31-5 before going down to the Cup final runners-up England 35-15 in their final pool games.

The Saiasi Fuli-coached side then defeated Japan 28-17 in the first semi-final of the Challenge Trophy and they defeated Spain 41-12 in the Change trophy final.
