Fijian welcome for resort chain boss

SIX years ago, Katerina Giannouka visited Fiji on a two-week diving adventure but this week she returned as president Asia-Pacific at Radisson Hotel Group — a role which places her at the helm of about 200 resorts in the region.

“It’s like a dream come true to be back in Fiji and back as the head of this beautiful property,” she said.

The 38-year-old was given a warm welcome by about 100 Radisson Blu Resort Fiji management and staff members when she visited the Denarau property this week.

During her maiden speech as president of the Radisson Asia-Pacific Group, she thanked the management and staff for making Fiji a “benchmark” property.

“Radisson Blu Resort Fiji has been operating at a very high level over the past few years and we use it as a benchmark for how to set up resorts and how to manage resorts, and there is also a strata type component which they manage very well here.

“It has always been a flagship for us and we use it even now as a benchmark for resort development in Asia-Pacific so it’s really a resort that we and the owners are very happy with.”
