Fijian flyer Vinaya Habosi has had his contract with the Fijian Drua scrapped because of a breach of the club’s code of conduct.

The announcement was made late yesterday, ending the 23-year-old’s association with the franchise.

“The Fijian Drua today confirmed that player Vinaya Habosi has had his contract terminated with immediate effect, due to a high-level breach of the club’s code of conduct,” a statement from the Fijian Drua read.

“The decision was made after careful consideration, and full due process was accorded to Vinaya throughout the process.

“The Fijian Drua will not comment further on this matter.”

Habosi, from Nasana Village in Nadroga, was a standout player for the Drua during the club’s inaugural Super Rugby Pacific season last year – scoring five tries in 11 matches.

He made his Flying Fijians debut last November.

In 2021, he was part of the Flying Fijians extended squad for two Test matches against the All Blacks but did not play.

In 2020, he helped Namosi win the INNK Farebrother Trophy and was a member of the Under-19 Skipper Cup champion Nadroga side a year earlier.
