TEAM Fiji to the 2018 Youth Olympic Games are on track in their various events at Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Fiji has three athletes taking part in the Youth Olympics which includes Serenia Ragatu, Grace Yee and Chang Ho Kim.

Fiji’s badminton specialist Chang Ho is partnered with Norway in the doubles to win their second match after losing two matches in the singles. Badminton coach Robbie Thackman praised the team’s effort to win the doubles event.

“Ho worked hard in his singles but still lacked international match experience,” Thackman said.

“Following his singles match he again had a good team match experience but he’s improving and he’s working hard as a team member.

“In his last team doubles event they came first and are the top qualifier in the knock out stages.”

In athletics, Ragatu has been having early morning sessions, drills and stretches with team coach Calvin Yee and is looking forward to her first event.

Meanwhile the national table tennis team didn’t win any singles event but Coach Carolyn Yi was satisfied with the performance of Grace Yee. Li said she felt Grace played better than her first day despite the results.

“During the competition we would identify more areas that needs improvement and weakness compared with world level players but nevertheless it was a close match against New Zealand and she also did well against one of the top seeded players from Brazil as well,” Li said.

Meanwhile her next event starts today where she will pair up with Australia’s Benjamin Gould.

The games will finish next Thursday.
