Fiji, US ink Shiprider agreement

IT is difficult to protect Fiji’s sovereign rights for fishing and other economic activities over such a vast area of sea.

These were the sentiments of United States Acting Ambassador to Fiji Michael Goldman during the Shiprider agreement signing between the US and Fiji today.

Mr Goldman said these agreements increased collaborative enforcement activities.

“Coast Guard boarding team expertise to help host nation law enforcement personnel more effectively exercise their authority and enforce their laws and regulations where they have jurisdiction,” he said.
