Fiji U23 football side to tour Singapore

THE Vodafone Fiji U23 side will tour Singapore to play buildup matches against the Singapore Olympics team next month which was confirmed by Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel yesterday.

“Our Olympians will play two Test matches against the Singapore U23 side as part of their build-up for the 2019 OFC Olympics Qualifiers next month,” said Patel.

He said the tour would give our players much needed exposure and experience.

“These will be FIFA-sanctioned matches which will give our players more confidence and much-needed exposure playing quality opponent as part of their preparation for Olympics Qualifiers.”

Patel said a 24-member squad with six officials would be leaving our shores for the tour.

“They will leave on September 4 and return on September 10,” said Patel.

The Marika Rodu-coached side will play its first match on September 6 and second on September 9 at Bishan Stadium at 7.45 pm (Singapore Time).

The Fiji Olympics side is in camp in Ba preparing for OFC Olympics Qualifiers to be held in Fiji from September 21 to October 5.
