THE Vodafone Fiji football side is hopeful of a good outing against the Solomon Islands at the Oceania Under-19 Championship in Tahiti.

Fiji defeated Vanuatu 3-1 in their opener on Tuesday and a win in the second match may secure a spot in the semi-finals for the Fijians.

Fijian coach Bal Sanju Reddy is wary of the opponents.

“Nothing to be taken away from them. Just like any other Pacific island team, they are equally good. Solomon Island and New Caledonia are equally good teams. We are hopeful that we will do well when we come up against the Solomons in the next match,” Reddy said.

Solomon Islands defeated New Caledonia 3-2 in their opening match of the tournament.

Fiji takes on Solomon Islands at 1pm on Friday.
