FIJI will be hosting the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health (APPFGH) in 2019.

Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni made the announcement at the end of the APPFGH meeting that was held in Manila, Philippines last week.

Dr Luveni thanked the member countries of the APPFGH for supporting Fiji’s bid to host the APPFGH 2019. “We have hosted many international conferences in the past.

Indeed in the first week of May 2019, Fiji will host the Annual Board of Directors Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, which based on the figures that attended the meeting in Manila, earlier this year, it is expected that between 3500 to 4000 people will be coming to Fiji for that one week meeting,” Dr Luveni said.

“In 2017 the Fiji Parliament hosted the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum for about 270 participants.”

“We will blend the sights and sounds of Fiji and the Pacific into the conference program, so that it will be an experience that will live long in your memories after your visit.”

The Fijian Parliament will be the focal point of the conference and Dr Luveni has also assured the forum members that the Fiji conference would be a great success.

She added that as hosts, the conference would also provide exposure to the members about the world renowned Fijian hospitality.
