Fiji Sugar Minister reveals ‘extravagant’ remuneration for FSC chief executive officers

Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh has revealed the hefty salaries and allowances paid to the former chief executive officers of Fiji Sugar Corporation.

At a press conference in Suva today, he revealed the following remuneration, which he described extravagant:

  • Former CEO Graham Clerk was paid a base salary of $550,000; $178,128 in allowances and his total package was $728,128;
  • Former CEO Abdul Khan earned $802,800 base salary; $37,200 in allowances and his total package was $840,000;
  • Navin Chandra (Chief Operating Officer) received $450,000 base salary; $96,564 in allowances and his total package was $546,564;
  • Martin Welch (Advising Engineer) earned $368,500 base salary; $64,500 in allowances and his total package was $433,000;
  • Gavin Taylor (Field Extension Services) received $250,000 base salary; $85,564 in allowances and his total package was $335,564;
  • Manoj Ram (CFO) earned $250,000 base salary; $64,000 in allowances and his total package was $314,000;
  • Present CEO Bhan P Singh is getting $250,000 in base salary; $48,000 in allowances and his total package is $298,000.
