Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu said hard drugs is in his village in Somosomo, Taveuni on Vamnua Levu.

He made the comments in Parliament on Friday while MP’s were debating the issue of trafficking and usage of hard drugs in Fiji.

“We have this kind of drugs in my province. It is not the marijuana that we are talking about, no these are the hard drugs,” Ratu Naiqama said.

“We even have it in my village in Somosomo and honourable members, the honourable Minister (Pio Tikoduadua) has raised this way back in 2019.

“What have we done to try and ensure that we take care to eradicate these?

“It would be difficult to eradicate it, maybe to try and alleviate it.”

Ratu Naiqama suggested members of Parliament should play an active role in dealing with the drug issue.
