FIJI managed one more Pacific Games gold medal from the greens at Bisini Sports Complex as the men’s triple team beat hosts Papua New Guinea in the lawn bowls yesterday.
The team of Arun Kumar, David Aitcheson and Rajnesh Kumar won their gold playoff. The pairs team of Waisea Senibeci and Semesa Naiseruvati settled for a silver against Norfolk Island. Radhika Prasad won a bronze medal in the women’s single while the women’s fours team led by Litia Tikoisuva also settled for a bronze medal.
The fine weather provided a beautiful outing for the lawn bowlers as they showed that they had adapted well to the artificial green.
Men’s section manager Curtis Mar said it was the result of hard work.
“The team have countless hours preparing themselves for the Pacific Games and it is good to see their hard work pay off,” Mar said.
“The women did pretty well as well. It has been a good experience for the athletes and officials as well. And hopefully, we could return here some day for another international competition.”
The lawn bowls won three gold medals, two silver and three bronze from the Pacific Games.
