The Fiji Red Cross Society has received a contribution of $59,980.47 from the Fijian Association Pagopago and the people of American Samoa.

Fiji Red Cross Society Director General Ilisapeci Rokotunidau acknowledged the Fijian Association, Pagopago and the people of American Samoa in its humanitarian efforts to address the needs of communities affected by TC Yasa and TC Ana on Vanua Levu.

“The needs on the ground are massive and this assistance will greatly alleviate some difficulties people are still facing,” Ms Rokotunidau said.

“Response has been very challenging due to the different needs of a large number of people who are also spread over a large geographical area and the funds received will allow us to provide the much-needed items to identified communities and individuals so that we can continue to reach affected peoples and families in the hardest hit areas.”

The funds will also assist the Society to set up water tanks for identified communities so that women and girls, children and those living with a disability can have easy access to water required at the household level.
