VODAFONE Fiji football coach Christophe Gamel said the players had adjusted well to the weather conditions in the Philippines ahead of the friendly international match today.

The side departed for the Philippines on Monday.

“The heat is very strong and they are not used to the artificial turf and their feet are burning,” Gamel said from Manila yesterday.

“We had a training session that focused on technical moves and set pieces during the match. There are players who are not used to long travelling and they were a bit upset.”

The side has been boosted with Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna who joined the team yesterday and will play a key role in Fiji’s strike force.

“It would not be an easy match for Fiji,” Gamel said.

“The players needed a wake up call and we are looking forward to the match.”

The match will be played at 11.30 (Fiji time) tonight.
